About

Our Teachers

As per the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Act, 2021, all our staff are certified to teach preschool. Teachers and Assistants at Tools for Kids Preschool are required to follow the school philosophy and bring with them experience, education, and a genuine love of teaching preschool-aged children.

Teachers are continually kept abreast of new developments in the Early Childhood Education field by attending conferences, conventions, and individual courses and seminars throughout the year.

To ensure the safety of all children, all staff have submitted to a Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Search done by the Calgary Police Service, and each Teacher will hold a valid and current First Aid Certificate.

Our teachers have an open-door policy and are available to meet with parents outside of class time.

Parents and Caregivers

Parents and caregivers of children attending Tools for Kids Preschool, are encouraged to participate in their child’s experience in our program, as much as possible. This includes volunteering in the classroom and/or during filed trips and outings. Parents will be provided with a Parent Manual at the start of the preschool year which will provide all the information they need to assist them with their child’s attendance and participation in the Tools for Kids Program.

Tools for Kids Preschool uses HiMama to communicate with parents and once a child’s space has been confirmed, parents will receive an activation email for HiMama.

Early Childhood Intervention Services

Tools for Kids Preschool partners with Kids Developmental Services, a private Early Childhood Services Operator that is funded by Alberta Education. If you are concerned about your child’s development and would like to have them screened and/or assessed, please register your child on the Kids Developmental Services Student Information System, SchoolCloud, and you will then be contacted to schedule a time to complete the screening and/or assessment.
